Dear Parents and Carers,
Building Project
I am excited to announce that last week we selected a builder for our Learning Street Project starting on 29 September 2023. It is with great pleasure that we welcome Steele Building Group to take on this exciting project for our school and we look forward to working with the Geoff and the team to produce an outstanding contemporary project.
The Learning Street project will see the construction of five high quality-learning spaces for our Early Years students and staff. The inclusion of a large teaching and learning space will enhance the already excellent learning that is taking place in our school. The biophilic designed Learning Street will provide amazing learning facilities for many years to come. Visit the link below to see a short video on the project https://www.stjotran.catholic.edu.au/learning/building-programs
We are very appreciative to the State Government for a 1.6M grant to assist with this timely development and I would like to thank and acknowledge the State Government for this wonderful contribution.
During construction, we will need to move our Year 3/4 classes to different classrooms for Term 4. Classes will be moving over the next 2 weeks in preparation for the builders to come in and establish the building site. The current Music room, Italian room and Wellbeing room will be set up for the Year 3/4 classes to use for the rest of the year.
Year 3/4RM will move upstairs into room 12 (Music Room), Year 3/4MC will move into room 13 (Wellbeing Room), and Year 3/4JS will move into room 11 (Italian Room).
As a result, our specialist Music lessons for all classes will be held in the St Joseph’s Room (small Hall) on Tuesdays and Fridays, and Signora will visit the classes for Italian lessons. A quiet space for student wellbeing will be provided in the OSHC/Community room.
When the students return from the term break there will be a series of temporary fences around the building site to keep everyone safe for access through the school down to the multi-sports space.
Sports Day
By now, you would know that Sports Day is being held on Friday 29 September 2023 at Daly Oval, Hectorville and we are looking forward to a wonderful community day. Students are asked to arrive at 8:45am where they will meet their teacher and gather to start the day.
Students are encouraged to wear a T-shirt in their team colour. Team colour t-shirts are available to purchase from our Uniform shop for $10:
St Josephs School Tranmere – Belgravia Apparel | Schools (belgraviaapparelschools.com)
On Sports Day students will need to bring their school hat and water bottle. This week you would have received the Lunch package deal that is available for students and families. Please complete the order form and return by Friday 22 September 2023. The lunch package includes a sausage, biscuit and drink for $8 with payment made through the QKR app or in cash.
On completion of Sports Day at around 1pm, students are able to start their holiday break. School will return for term 4 on Monday 16 October 2023.
Quiz Night
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our parents and carers who supported the recent Quiz Night. The terrific number of people who attended had a wonderful night with many great prizes and auction items. Thank you to our hardworking P & F for an incredible achievement in raising over $8,000. These funds will contribute to the construction of our new sports shed in 2024.
Uniform
With the warmer weather arriving this week, it is a timely reminder about school hats. As we are a Sun Smart school, hats need to be worn if the UV is three and above, which is generally each day from now. Can I please ask that you check to see that your child has a current school hat. The front office has a limited supply if you need one. I also strongly encourage you to label it clearly as well.
Students can now start wearing their summer uniform during the last 2 weeks of the term as we move into Term 4. The uniform is an important part of our identity and I ask that you check to see that your child is wearing the correct items on the correct days. Thank you for your continued support.
Kiss and Drop - Traffic Management
Finally, another reminder to all parents and carers using the pick-up zone at the end of the school day. You are not allowed to queue from the Emu crossing up and around onto Magill Road. There have been many complaints that these cars are blocking the entrance to Birkinshaw Avenue. Please drive around the block and return when the area is clear. Staff are on attendance each day until 3:20pm, providing plenty of time for collection of students. Your support in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Adrian Grbin
