Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been an amazing start to the term as we opened the top yard of the school. We are all loving the new adventure play space and it is so wonderful to see the students experiencing a new way of playing, especially with the different play equipment. They are enjoying the many different options and it is pleasing to see their many happy faces.
The plants in the new front garden are really having a wonderful time as they settle in and begin to establish and grow, thanks hugely to the large amount of rain that we have been experiencing recently. Unfortunately, this is not the case for the new basketball/netball court. The rain has again delayed this project, which is a little while away for completion.
Last week I was fortunate to attend the Year 6 Camp to Kangaroo Island. This 4-day adventure was an incredible experience and I would like to thank all the students and staff for making it such a successful trip. We were able to travel around the island and take in the many amazing sites, especially the Flinders Chase National Park. It was so special to see the new growth appearing after the fires of 2020 and to see how nature can rejuvenate after such a major catastrophic event.
This term we will again have an opportunity to celebrate the year with our Annual Community Christmas Gathering. This evening event will again take place on the grass in the bottom yard and students will perform a Christmas song and dance. The night will start at 6pm and families are asked to bring a chair or blanket. You are welcome to bring some nibbles and drinks, however please no alcohol. The night should conclude around 7:30pm.
To make sure we are all safe, can I remind families using who are using the drop off and pick up zone to remain with your car and let the children come to the vehicle, to avoid slowing the flow of the pick-up. We would encourage you to park and walk into the school grounds for collection if your child is struggling with the pick-up.
Please continue to use the Emu crossing to reach the opposite side of Birkinshaw Ave rather than crossing in the drop off and pick up zone. Finally, in the morning we are noticing families parking on the opposite side of Birkinshaw Ave and dropping off students. This is a no standing zone with a solid yellow line with timed restrictions - we have had a few complaints from our neighbours on this matter. Thank you for your support.
Finally can I ask all families to check their child’s uniform to ensure that all students are wearing the correct uniform. We are now expecting all students to be in their summer uniform with the school hat. We have extended the wearing of the winter uniform this week due to the unseasonal weather. In addition, I would strongly encourage that all uniform items are labelled as this greatly assist with the return of items to the rightful owner. If you have any queries please contact the front office.
Kind regards
Adrian Grbin
